The Mont Alto baseball team has announced that four student-athletes have been named to the USCAA Spring All-Academic Team. Junior pitcher Ethan Slusser received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.
A new award named after Penn State Mont Alto's longtime Director of Athletics Robert "Marty" Ogle will be presented annually to two current student-athletes, one male and one female, who have distinguished themselves throughout their Penn State Mont Alto careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletic prowess and leadership.
The Marty Ogle Student-Athlete-of-the-Year Award will recognize student-athletes who embody the Penn State spirit of competition and excellence and serve as a fitting tribute to the late athletic director's long service, energy and dedication to Penn State Mont Alto for years to come.
Longtime Penn State Mont Alto Director of Athletics Robert "Marty" Ogle died on Friday, March 29, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Ogle served as the Mont Alto athletic director for 28 years before retiring in June of 2016.
Members of the Penn State Mont Alto Athletic Department and Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) volunteered their time and effort by helping at the double-wide ice slide at the IceFest in downtown Chambersburg on Sunday, February 3.
During the 2017-18 academic year, 38 Penn State Mont Alto student-athletes representing all five of the athletic department’s winter and spring teams were named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
